Our History
In 1982, Scott Baskin, an ambitious, aggressive, young businessperson had his finger on the pulse of an industry that was slowly dying. Scott figured that he could breathe new life into this industry which was stuck in the 1950s. With this in mind, he set out along with his brothers to create Anchor Wiping Cloth Company - a company which today is one of the top leaders in the recycling business. Not satisfied with simply re-writing the history of the wiping cloth business, Scott aimed to define its future.
Over the course of the next two decades, Anchor Wiping Cloth has not only raised the bar - they have set the standard. Providing world-class service to what is now a 10,000+ customer base, Anchor Wiping Cloth's fresh, innovative approach to total customer satisfaction has earned them a well respected position within the recycling industry.
Prospering from humble beginnings in a 1,500 square foot warehouse, Anchor Wiping Cloth "grew into" a 50,000 square foot facility in 1991. This was a bittersweet accomplishment as it unfortunately coincided with the loss of Harold Baskin, the beloved family patriarch.
Then, the unthinkable happened on December 23rd, 2005 when a tragic fire destroyed the building as well as its entire contents. Facing such adversity and finding a way through total destruction truly tested the resolve of every single member of the Anchor Wiping Cloth family. Our competition counted us out. Down does not mean out - not by any means. Together we came back bigger, better, and stronger than ever.
Today, our new 145,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility houses one of the greatest teams any company would be proud to have. Now processing over one and a half million pounds of goods monthly (and growing) along with our additional lines, Anchor Wiping Cloth has earned a stellar reputation based on integrity and reliability.
"Our competition knows our name - so should you."
